Dezigntechnic was engaged to curate a unique wayfinding solution for visitors to the 25 hours hotel. It is located at the heart of Dubai bringing ancient Bedouin themes and traditions back to modern life.
The 25 hours hotel is one of the most quirky hotels with tradition and modernity intricately woven floor-by-floor. Different floors of the hotel represent a different era and take the visitors on a journey through time from past to present to future. In keeping with the synergy, our signage flows from past to present to future on different floors. From ground to 3rd-floor, lift directory signs represent the ancient compass, inspired by Da Vinci's “Vitruvian Man”, taking a leaf from the bygone days while providing functionality. The signs from the 4th to 6th floor depict the advanced compass, with a hint of color to match the retro aesthetic of the interior. The lift directory signs from the 7th to 8th floor were inspired by the imagination of a futuristic compass, resembling a digital look and feel.
The internal directional signs resemble weathered and dilapidated road markings and traditional Dubai road signs to match the aesthetic of the room identification signs on the first floor. The pool directory signage represents vintage swimwear. The wayfinding system represents the graphic change of times within the hotel and provides the guests with useful information without overwhelming them.
In our wayfinding system design, we stayed true to the aesthetic and brand of the hotel. We created a unique navigation strategy that adapts to the needs of the guests and leads them to their intended place, enhancing security, comfort, and confidence while preventing confusion and chaos.
