Abu Dhabi University

Dezigntechnic was appointed to create a wayfinding strategy and solution for Abu Dhabi University, a leading university in the MENA region. We created a complete strategic wayfinding solution to help freshmen integrate into the campus ecosystem and aid students, staff and visitors navigate the vast campus.

Externally, we installed 3D identification signage at the top of the entrance gate that welcomes students to the beautiful campus. The entrance and parking lot signage was placed strategically so that is clear from a visual standpoint. It helped people navigate their way to the parking lot and into the building.

For first-time visitors, universities are new territory. Effective wayfinding signage can make navigation easier. We ensured the internal signage spoke to the mass of students and staff. We kept it clear, concise, and easily legible. Our Wayfinding strategy incorporated elements of psychology and functionality, assisting individuals in adjusting to unfamiliar surroundings. While designing the signage, we adhered to the aesthetic of Abu Dhabi University, to extend the university’s brand. Warm hues were chosen as a color palette and were kept minimalistic. Aluminum box-painted room identification signs indicated each room’s functionality to avoid any confusion.

Our directional signage not only helped to extend Abu Dhabi University’s brand but also helped new students, staff, and visitors at the campus to find the exact area they need to go to, as well as navigate within them.
