W Hotel - Mina Seyahi: Finding your way through stories

Dezigntechnic was engaged to create a wayfinding strategy for The W Hotels in Al Mina al Seyahi that would complement the unique concept design of the hotel’s rich and dark interiors.  

The W hotel draws inspiration from the ancient Arabic storytelling tradition of Al-Halqa, where the storyteller was the main entertainer in the community. The designers of the W hotel came together like a group of storytellers and the outcome was this popular, quirky destination that aims to change norms and push boundaries.

We collaborated with the designers and architects of the hotel to build a comprehensive signage strategy with the creative use of  signs, maps, pictographs to not only welcome and guide visitors around an area but also to reflect the hotel’s identity while providing a superior experience.

Dezigntechnic focussed on creating a seamless user experience from check-in to valet, to dining, to living. Wayfinding boards were installed at strategic points near the entrance to welcome visitors and  to provide them with a mental map of the property. The signage in the lobby area and the elevators facilitates navigation within the area and provides key information about amenities.

The stress on clarity and use of consistent visual elements in signage by DezignTechnic creates an immersive environment that adds up to a magical experience of W hotels.
