Yas mall: A Joyful New Shopping Experience

Dezigntechnic was tasked with creating a customer-centric wayfinding experience for Yas Mall, the largest mall on Yas Island Abu Dhabi. Yas Mall provides residents and tourists with an excellent shopping, dining, and entertainment experience all under one roof.

Yas Mall was a huge creative challenge. Turning the existing mall signage into a reliable, functional system was necessary. Our team was motivated to improve the navigation system and create a unique industrial design that complemented Yas Mall’s aesthetic.

From exterior to interior signage we created signs that spoke to the mass of people to help them find their way around the enormous arena. The parking lot signage directs to different parts of the parking lot, providing necessary information on how to circulate within it. The free-standing signage ushers people to the diverse locations that Yas Mall offers.

Customers became easily disoriented within Yas Mall due to its size and structural arrangement. Certain areas of the mall were prone to overcrowding or under-crowding, and employees spent more time giving directions than selling goods. So we strategically put signage at key decision points(i.e. front of stairs, elevators, hallways) for it to be verily noticeable. As a result, the mall saw an increase in circulation in quiet areas. Our wayfinding signage solutions inspired Yas Mall users to navigate the diverse development with ease, enabling them to move with more confidence and discover more.

The ultimate result was a bespoke wayfinding system, a timeless design that reflects the theme of Yas Mall, with a laser focus on quality control and message clarity through a unique wayfinding approach.
